The Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Awards 2023, in partnership with the WIPO Awards 2023, honored 47 scientific projects for their novelty, creativity, wide applicability, economic efficiency, and positive impacts on society. Among the 130 projects submitted, these 47 projects were recognized with awards, including four first prizes, nine second prizes, sixteen third prizes, and seventeen consolation prizes. Winners received cash rewards and certificates of merit, with the first prize winners also receiving recognition from the Prime Minister.
These award-winning projects spanned various fields such as Mechanical Automation, Energy Saving and New Energy Use, Materials Technology, and Biotechnology serving production and life. For instance, research on inertial navigation systems for Navy ships showcased innovative applications of science in military technology. Ultra-fine dry grinding technology for producing energy-saving bricks demonstrated how science can improve energy efficiency in construction. Moreover, the development of hybrid robusta coffee varieties highlighted how science can enhance agricultural productivity while promoting sustainability.
The Vifotec Award has been organized annually since 1995 to promote scientific research and innovation among scientists and intellectuals. This initiative encourages them to tackle real-world challenges and contribute to socio-economic development in Vietnam. Award recipients were praised for their dedication and creativity; their work serves as an inspiration to future generations of researchers who will continue to drive innovation for a better world.
In the upcoming year’s edition of the Vifotec Award 2024, key technology fields such as mechanical automation, materials science information technology biology climate change response energy-saving technologies new energy utilization will be focused on driving further innovation to address pressing issues across different sectors that support sustainable development in Vietnam.
