Veteran Fullback Michael Burton Returns to Denver Broncos on One-Year Contract

Michael Burton, a ninth-year fullback standing at 6-0 and weighing 247 pounds, has recently re-signed with the Broncos on another one-year contract. Since joining the team last spring on a one-year deal, Burton has been a key player, serving as both a fullback and contributing on special teams during the 2023 season. As the only true fullback on the Broncos’ current roster, unless they decide to transition tight end/fullback Nate Adkins to a full-time position, Burton’s role is solidified leading into training camp.

Prior to joining the Broncos, Burton was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the fifth round out of Rutgers in 2015. After spending two seasons in Detroit, he was waived in 2017 and went on to play for the Chicago Bears for two years. Following a brief stint with the New Orleans Saints in 2019, Burton joined the Washington Commanders before returning to the Saints for the 2020 season. He then played for the Kansas City Chiefs from 2021 to 2022, contributing to their Super Bowl LVII win. Known for his blocking abilities, Burton has also recorded rushing and receiving statistics in his career.

As he enters his tenth year in professional football, Burton continues to be an integral part of Denver’s roster and will undoubtedly play a significant role during training camp and throughout the upcoming season.
