Vestas Combines Technology, Manufacturing and Global Procurement in New CTOO Organization to Accelerate Wind Turbine Production

Vestas to Introduce Integrated Division for Technology, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain Operations

Vestas, a Danish wind turbine manufacturer, is set to create a single organization that will combine technology, manufacturing, and global procurement in order to speed up the ramp-up and industrialization process. This new organization will merge the company’s technology organization (CTO) and manufacturing and global procurement organization (COO) into one technology and operations organization (CTOO). The current chief technology officer, Anders Nielsen, will lead this new organization as CTOO and it is expected to be fully operational by the third quarter of 2024.

As a result of this restructuring, the current COO, Tommy Rahbek Nielsen, has decided to explore opportunities outside the company after serving for over 25 years. Vestas aims to simplify interfaces, enhance collaboration, and strengthen the end-to-end approach by uniting the technology and operations aspects of the organization.

The implementation of the new CTOO organization is anticipated to primarily impact senior management roles and not result in any restructuring at the operational level. Henrik Andersen, Group President and CEO of Vestas, stated that this reorganization is the next step in delivering on customer commitments and will help accelerate the ramp-up and industrialization processes. In addition to this organizational change, Vestas recently signed a conditional agreement for the supply of wind turbines for a large-scale offshore wind project in Europe. The client and project details were not disclosed by the company.
