Venu Sports: A Disney, Warner Bros., Fox Venture Set to Revolutionize the Sports Streaming Industry

The joint sports-streaming venture between Fox, Disney, Warner Bros., and Discovery will now be known as Venu Sports

Disney, Warner Bros. Discovery, and Fox are set to launch a new sports streaming service called Venu Sports this fall, according to Pete Distad, the venture’s CEO. The service is aimed at attracting younger viewers who are not tuned in to cable TV by offering a bundled package of the companies’ wide range of professional and collegiate sports rights.

Venu Sports will be available directly through a new app and subscribers can choose to bundle the service with Disney+, Hulu, or Max. The joint venture still requires regulatory approval and finalization of definitive agreements among the involved companies. However, Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch stated in March that the venture was anticipated to have 5 million subscribers within its first five years.

The addressable market for the venture is expected to be between 50 million and 60 million, Murdoch added. He mentioned that he did not foresee any concerns regarding regulatory obstacles for the new sports streaming service.
