Van Hool Faces Bankruptcy as VDL, Schmitz Cargobull, and Guido Dumarey Express Interest in Acquisition

Reports from De Standaard and De Tijd suggest that the Dutch bus builder VDL and German trailer manufacturer Schmitz Cargobull are potential buyers for parts of Van Hool, which is facing bankruptcy. The two companies are collaborating on a joint bid, along with Flemish entrepreneur Guido Dumarey as a third candidate.

VDL has expressed interest in acquiring the bus division of Van Hool, while Schmitz is looking at taking over production of certain industrial vehicles. Dumarey has a separate plan to acquire the entire company after bankruptcy and retain 1,800 of the 2,500 jobs. However, time is running out for an agreement to be reached as Van Hool faces a financial crisis and a deadline of March 31.
