We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Valerie Kato as the deputy director for the Department of Health in Hawaii. We would like to express our gratitude for your continued support of the Honolulu Star-Advertiser.
In her new role, Kato will be working closely with Health Director Dr. Kenneth Fink to oversee the administrative offices of the department. These offices are responsible for managing various DOH agencies and district health offices. With 17 years of experience in private practice and a wealth of knowledge and expertise, we believe that Kato will excel in this new position.
Prior to this appointment, Kato held the position of supervising deputy in the health division of the state attorney general’s office, as well as serving as a first deputy attorney general. She earned her law degree from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C., and her bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Dr. Fink expressed his confidence in Kato, stating that she brings valuable skills, leadership, and enthusiasm to the Department of Health. We are excited to have her on board!
