VA Health Care Enrollment Opens for Veterans Exposed to Toxins and Hazards in March 2024

Town Hall Meeting at the University of Texas at Laredo on the PACT Act Hosted by VA Texas Valley Health Care

On Wednesday, May 22 at 6:00 p.m., veterans in Laredo and surrounding areas are invited to attend an event hosted by VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend. The event, located at 1937 Bustamante Street, Laredo, Texas 78041, will focus on phase two of the PACT Act and provide information about VA health care enrollment and benefits for veterans, their families, and survivors.

The announcement by VA that all veterans who were exposed to toxins or other hazards during their military service are now eligible to enroll directly in VA health care as of March 5, 2024 has brought attention to this important event. Veterans from various conflicts and deployments, including the Vietnam War, Gulf War, Iraq, Afghanistan, and the Global War on Terror can now enroll in VA health care without first applying for benefits. Even those who were exposed to toxins or hazards during training or active duty in the United States are eligible to enroll.

This event is a great opportunity for veterans and their families to learn more about the benefits they are entitled to receive through VA health care. It is also an opportunity for media representatives to request interviews with local leadership by contacting Hugo Martinez at [Hugo.Martinez@va.gov](mailto:Hugo.Martinez@va.gov).
