Uzbekistan’s Bentley Takes Home World Cup Gold in Triathlon!

Bentley from Britain wins gold in debut race at Samarkand World Cup • World Triathlon

In the 10km run in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, Connor Bentley demonstrated exceptional form and maintained a blistering pace that left his rivals behind. As the heat intensified, Bentley’s opponents began to fade, allowing him to claim the gold medal on a World Cup podium for the first time. Yanis Seguin and Jonas Schomburg finished in second and third place, respectively.

Meanwhile, in the swimming portion of the race, Mark Devay, Chase McQueen, and Canada’s Aiden Longcroft-Harris established themselves as the front three swimmers. However, Simon Westermann and James Edgar made their presence felt in the front group as the race progressed.

As the race transitioned to the biking segment, Bentley remained in contention alongside Seguin and Schomburg. Behind them were Seth Rider, Sylvain Fridelance, Tyler Smith, and Panagiotis Bitados who trailed by 28 seconds. The chase group was further behind struggling to close the gap despite efforts from Emil Holm, Gaspar Riveros, and Shachar Sagiv to stay within striking distance.

By the final lap of the cycling portion, Bentley had expanded his lead to two minutes over Westermann and Seguin. Oscar Dart led Australia’s charge in the chase group while David Cantero del Campo joined him shortly after. While Cantero del Campo managed to close some of that gap between them but it was too late for him to catch up with Bentley who secured his victory with a final surge before entering into run portion with Seguin finishing closely behind him while Schomburg finished third on
