UVA Health Earns Top Hospital Safety Grades from The Leapfrog Group for Fourth Year in a Row

UVA Health, a leading healthcare provider in Virginia, has been recognized for its commitment to patient safety by earning top grades from The Leapfrog Group. K. Craig Kent, MD, the CEO of UVA Health, expressed his appreciation to the team for their hard work in achieving these exceptional results.

The hospital safety grades are based on measures of patient safety and the systems hospitals have in place to protect patients. The four UVA Health medical centers that earned “A” grades for hospital safety include UVA Health University Medical Center in Charlottesville, UVA Health Culpeper Medical Center, UVA Health Haymarket Medical Center, and UVA Health Prince William Medical Center in Manassas.

Wendy Horton, PharmD, MBA, CEO of UVA Health University Medical Center, emphasized the importance of delivering high-quality care to patients as evidenced by the “A” grade received from The Leapfrog Group. She highlighted the team’s dedication and commitment to ensuring that every patient receives safe and effective care.

Erik Shannon, CEO of UVA Health’s community hospitals also recognized the efforts of their teams in providing excellent and safe care to their communities. He expressed his pride in seeing their hard work honored with top grades from The Leapfrog Group.
