Utah Secures Tenth Commitment in Class of 2025 with Australian Two-Way Lineman Malili Asiata

Utah secures commitment from talented 3-star two-way lineman Malili Asiata

On Sunday evening, the Utah Utes secured their third commitment of the day, adding three-star two-way lineman Malili Asiata to their class of 2025. Originally from Australia, Asiata plays high school football for Aquinas High School in San Bernardino, California. Despite his relatively recent introduction to football, Asiata received offers from several schools before ultimately deciding to join Whittingham’s program at Utah.

Standing at 6-foot-5 and weighing 330 pounds, Asiata expressed his commitment to Utah on X, acknowledging defensive ends coach Lewis Powell in his announcement. It is expected that Asiata will begin his Utah career on the defensive line, according to 247Sports’ Steve Bartle.

Asiata’s commitment marks the ninth for the Utes in June and the 11th overall in the class of 2025. He joins a talented group of commitments that includes quarterback Wyatt Becker, edge rusher Nela Tupou, defensive linemen Karson Kaufusi and Sione Motuapuaka, tight end Drew Clemens, linebackers Polu, Max Fonoimoana, and Christian Thatcher, offensive lineman Soren Shinofield, and athlete Buchanan. The Utes head coach Kyle Whittingham observed the game in Salt Lake City on Thursday during the season opener which ended in a 24-11 victory for Utah.
