The University of Tennessee Health Science Center’s Campus Police Department is joining forces with the Tennessee Highway Safety Office for a “Click it or Ticket” campaign running from May 20 to June 2. This initiative aims to increase seat belt enforcement as part of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s national mobilization effort.
During this campaign, Campus Police will be conducting extensive patrols in the Memphis Medical District to identify drivers who are not wearing seat belts. Educational materials will be distributed and citations will be issued to promote seat belt safety and raise awareness about Tennessee’s safety laws. Lieutenant Celia Tisby emphasized the importance of safety, urging everyone to wear seat belts to protect themselves, their passengers, and others in case of a crash.
The Campus Police Department prioritizes the safety and security of students, faculty, and staff at the UT Health Science Center Memphis campus and the surrounding medical district community. The department holds accreditations from several organizations such as the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police, the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc., and the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators.
