Iran acknowledges talks with US on halting regional spread of Gaza conflict

This week, representatives from the United States and Iran met in Oman to discuss the escalating conflict in Gaza between Israel and Hamas. The talks, which marked the first discussion since April’s attacks, were aimed at finding a peaceful resolution to the regional conflict.

According to sources from Axios, the negotiations confirmed by Iranian representative to the UN Saeed Iravani have been ongoing this week. The discussions are part of an ongoing process aimed at containing the escalation of the conflict in Gaza. The US delegation, led by White House Middle East adviser Brett McGurk and acting envoy to Iran Abram Paley, engaged in discussions with Iranian representatives in separate rooms, with Omani mediators facilitating communication between the two sides.

The talks focused on clarifying the consequences of Iran’s actions in the region and addressing concerns about its nuclear program. This dialogue marks a significant step towards addressing the ongoing conflict and seeking peaceful resolutions.
