Unveiling the Truth: Inside Babboe’s Alleged Defective Product Hide and Seek Scheme

Babboe cargo bike manufacturer under investigation for concealing faulty frames

The Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority has launched a criminal investigation into Babboe, a cargo bike manufacturer, following allegations that the company hid defects in their products. The investigation began after it was discovered that several of Babboe’s cargo bike models were unsafe.

Former Babboe employees have come forward with allegations that they concealed broken frames in vans before inspections, which the regulator has called shocking and unacceptable. Babboe’s parent company, Accell, claims to have been unaware of these actions.

In addition to these allegations, customers who raised concerns about the safety of the cargo bikes were allegedly turned away by Babboe. The company is facing serious allegations of misconduct and endangering public safety.

The investigation is being conducted by the Intelligence and Investigation Service of the NVWA and the Public Prosecution Service. As more information comes to light regarding Babboe’s actions and the extent of the safety issues with their cargo bikes, it remains to be seen what consequences they will face as a result of the criminal investigation.
