Jacob Iten, the other man involved in the case, remains at large and is facing multiple open cases related to burglary, theft, and drug possession. Between December 2023 and May 2024, Iten has been charged with over 20 counts across six separate court cases. Most recently, on May 7, he was charged in Cass County with theft and burglary charges. A warrant is currently out for his arrest as the authorities continue to actively seek him.
In contrast, Amar Kovacevic, one of the men initially charged in the series of business burglaries, has changed his plea and been sentenced in Fargo, North Dakota. Originally facing charges of burglary, theft, unlawful vehicle entry, and refusal to halt in relation to the December 2023 burglaries, Kovacevic pleaded guilty on May 6 to two counts of burglary and one count of theft. The three other charges were dismissed.
Kovacevic has been sentenced to 5 years in the Department of Corrections but will serve less than a year. He must first serve 1 year and 1 day behind bars with credit given for 137 days already spent behind bars before being released on supervised probation for 18 months.
