Unpredictable Weather Disrupts World Cup Schedule: Game Between India and Canada Called Off Due to Rain, England’s Match Against Namibia in Danger of No-Result

Our reporter in Antigua reports that while the skies are currently grey, there are still plenty of blue patches visible. This suggests that the day may be filled with showers rather than a complete washout.

The game between India and Canada in Florida was called off due to rain, marking the third successive abandonment in Lauderhill. The weather conditions have been unpredictable in recent days, causing disruptions to the World Cup schedule.

England’s next match against Namibia is also under threat from thundery showers in Antigua. If the rain interferes, a no-result would mean England crashing out of the tournament with four points, trailing behind Scotland who is set to advance to the Super Eights. The prospect of discussing net run rate or Duckworth-Lewis-Stern looms if the weather conditions do not improve.

Namibia, already out of the tournament, will face England in T20 for the first time. Their only previous encounter was in a 50-over match during the 2003 World Cup where Namibia put up a good fight. Andrew Flintoff and Jimmy Anderson, now part of England’s coaching team, played in that match. Play is scheduled to start at 6pm BST, and updates on the toss and teams will be available shortly before.
