Unprecedented Ties: A Tour of Honor as Italian President Sergio Mattarella Strengthens Ireland’s Relationship.

Mattarella visits Dublin to strengthen the pro-EU stance

On the upcoming visit of President Sergio Mattarella to Dublin, he will be participating in an informal meeting with President Michael D. Higgins and attending a donation ceremony of the garden of the Italian ambassador’s residence to the city. This will serve as an opportunity for the two presidents to strengthen their relationship, which has been built through formal meetings and informal visits over the years, often centered around Europe. The evening will end with a dinner in Mattarella’s honor at the presidential residence.

As part of his visit, Mattarella and Higgins will also inaugurate Parco Italia at Lucan House, previously the residence of the Italian Ambassadors to Ireland. The park now hosts an exhibition titled “Grazing in Lucan” by Italian artist Davide Rivalta, showcasing bronze buffaloes and a fiberglass horse. This ceremony aims to strengthen the ties between Italy and Ireland and celebrate their shared values and commitment to the European Union, despite recent political changes in Ireland with Simon Harris now leading the country. The two presidents will have a conversation before Mattarella departs for Rome.
