Unprecedented Success: How Baykar Embraced Inclusivity and Transformed Turkey’s Defense Industry

Security Company Provides Employees with Grant Equal to 18 Salaries

In recent years, the defense industry has been thriving not only in Israel but also in countries such as Turkey. One of the well-known defense companies in Turkey is Baykar, which has recently decided to award its employees grants equivalent to 18 salaries.

Baykar’s success can be attributed to its innovative technology and strategic partnerships, making it a key player in the global market. The company generates 83% of its revenue from exports, with a significant increase in revenues in 2022 due to the Russia-Ukraine war. In 2023, Baykar was declared the export leader in the defense sector in Turkey, with exports amounting to 1.8 billion dollars.

The company exports UAVs to 33 countries, with the Beyrakter TB2 and Beyrakter Akinci being popular choices. Baykar’s commitment to rewarding its employees reflects its dedication to fostering a supportive and inclusive work environment. To celebrate its success, Baykar provided grants to employees who have been with the company for more than six years or have been serving as managers for over two years.

Baykar’s ranking in the global defense industry was 76th in 2022, with Israeli defense companies ranking higher. Despite this, Baykar has gained international recognition mainly due to its VP of Technology, Selcuk Beyrakter, who is married to Soumya, the daughter of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Beyrakter is known as the highest taxpayer in Turkey and the company is renowned for its Beyrakter TB2 drone, used by the Ukrainian army.
