Unprecedented Security Measures for ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup as ISIS-K Threatens New York City Event

Security increased in New York for India vs Pakistan T20 World Cup match following ISIS-K threat

As a result of a global threat from terror group ISIS-K, security measures in New York have been intensified for the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 Cricket World Cup match between India and Pakistan. Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick J. Ryder revealed that the event initially received a threat linked to ISIS-K in April, followed by more specific threats targeting the India versus Pakistan game scheduled for June 9. These threats also referenced a viral video encouraging lone wolf attacks.

In response to these threats, all security efforts have been coordinated with federal partners such as the FBI, Department of Homeland Security, and other law enforcement and intelligence agencies. Nassau County Executive Bruce Blakeman emphasized that all threats are taken seriously and that security concerns have been discussed for over six months to ensure the safety of everyone present.

The county police commissioner stated that this event presents the largest security challenge in the history of the county. He assured that the stadium will be the safest place to be on June 9th. ISIS-K, responsible for the attack at Moscow’s Crocus City Hall in March which killed over 140 people, emerged in eastern Afghanistan in 2014 and is now one of the most active ISIS affiliates.
