Unlocking Insights into the U.S. Economy: The Power of the BTOS Data

Release of Survey Data on Business Trends and Outlook

The BTOS data is a valuable resource for businesses, policymakers, and researchers looking to gain insights into the U.S. economy. This data represents all employer businesses in the U.S., excluding farms, and provides continuous and timely information on key economic measures every two weeks.

The sample of the BTOS data consists of around 1.2 million businesses that are surveyed biweekly. These businesses are divided into six panels, each consisting of approximately 200,000 cases, that report every 12 weeks for a year. On average, it takes respondents about nine minutes to complete the survey, including time for reviewing instructions and providing answers.

The data collected will be released biweekly and will be accessible by sector, state, and the 25 most populous metropolitan statistical areas. This information is crucial for local, state, and federal officials as it provides real-time data to aid in policymaking and decision-making. Additionally, businesses can use this information to make informed economic decisions.
