Unlocking Health Care Benefits: A Town Hall for Veterans Exposed to Toxins and Hazards

Corpus Christi Town Hall with VA Texas Valley Health Care and PACT Act at VA West Point

On Thursday, May 23, 2024, the Corpus Christi VA West Point Clinic will host a town hall to inform Veterans, their families, and survivors about the PACT Act and encourage them to apply for the health care and benefits they have earned. The event will take place from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the 2nd floor of 925 South Padre Island Drive in Corpus Christi, Texas.

In addition to this town hall, there will also be a VA health care enrollment event on the same day at the same location. The purpose of this event is to educate Veterans about the new eligibility criteria that has been announced by the VA regarding those who were exposed to toxins or hazards while serving in the military or while training or on active duty in the United States. This eligibility criteria applies to Veterans who served in various combat zones including Vietnam War, Gulf War, Iraq, Afghanistan, Global War on Terror and any other combat zone after 9/11.

This news means that all Veterans who were exposed to such hazards are now eligible to enroll directly in VA health care without having to go through a lengthy application process. Media representatives can RSVP in advance by contacting Hugo Martinez at [Hugo.Martinez@va.gov](mailto:Hugo.Martinez@va.gov) if they wish to conduct interviews with local leadership about this event and new eligibility criteria for VA healthcare enrollment for veterans who were exposed to toxic substances or hazards during their military service or while training or on active duty in the US
