Unlocking Funding Opportunities: Score’s Acce$$ to Money Event in Kansas City

Nonprofit business organization hosting event to help startups learn effective strategies for attracting investors

A nonprofit organization based in Prairie Village, Kansas is dedicated to helping entrepreneurs find investors and other funding opportunities for their startups. Score is hosting an event called “Acce$$ to Money” in Kansas City, Missouri on Friday. The event will feature a series of speakers, panel discussions, workshops, and more with participation from roughly 30 different organizations.

Teresa Spiess, the owner of Cedar Street Toffee, utilized a Score mentor to expand her business from her home to a storefront in Prairie Village in 2020. She emphasized the importance of having a mentor available to answer questions and provide guidance when needed. In addition to hosting annual events like “Acce$$ to Money”, Score provides volunteers with business backgrounds to mentor business owners. In 2023, Score helped 530 new businesses open across the Kansas City area.

Geoff Meiteen, a Score volunteer organizing the event, called it the greatest resource in one place for new entrepreneurs. At a previous event in 2023, Edie Howard won a pitch competition and gained valuable expertise and resources to launch her business, KC Special Recruits. She plans to attend this year’s event to grow her business, a placement and job training company for people with disabilities.
