Unlock Your YouTube Premium Viewing Experience with New Features: Picture-in-Picture, Jump Ahead and More

YouTube Premium introduces picture-in-picture mode for Shorts and debuts ‘Jump ahead’ feature on Android

Premium subscribers on YouTube can now enhance their viewing experience with new features. Picture-in-picture mode for YouTube Shorts and the ‘Jump ahead’ option for Android devices are among the latest additions.

The picture-in-picture mode allows users to continue watching videos while using other apps. By activating this feature, the video can be minimized and moved around the screen while still playing. To avoid the video shrinking and displaying in this way while browsing, it is recommended to pause or stop the video before exiting the app.

YouTube Premium subscribers can enjoy an uninterrupted viewing experience of YouTube Shorts videos, which are vertical and last no more than 60 seconds. This feature allows users to multitask while watching content in the mobile app for Android devices.

The ‘Jump ahead’ option, powered by AI and audience data, is another feature available for Android users in the United States. This feature is currently being tested and will be available for iOS devices in the coming weeks.

Premium subscribers can access early access to YouTube Shorts’ latest designs, AI assistance, and features such as smart downloading of videos through a conversational AI experience on Android devices in the US that can answer questions and suggest related content without interrupting playback.
