Masayoshi Matsumoto, the chairman of the Kansai Economic Federation, stated in a recent interview that the 2025 Osaka World Expo has the potential to greatly enhance the economic significance of the Kansai region. Currently, the region contributes about 5% of Japan’s gross domestic product, but with the new technologies and innovations to be presented at the expo, this number could potentially increase to 20%.
