According to a report from the Ministry of Climate Change and Environment, the number of green jobs in the UAE is expected to reach around 86,000 by 2030.
In recent years, green jobs have become increasingly important in the UAE labor market. The UAE Labor Market Observatory revealed that green jobs accounted for 11.69% of total jobs in 2023. Green jobs are concentrated in areas such as manufacturing, construction, scientific and professional activities, information and communication, sanitation activities and waste management.
The UAE Energy Strategy 2050 aims to invest between 150 and 200 billion dirhams by 2030 to meet the country’s energy demands while promoting economic sustainability. The strategy also aims to create around 50,000 new green jobs by 2030. Green jobs encompass a range of areas including protecting the environment, conserving energy, reducing resource waste, and promoting sustainable practices like vertical agriculture.
Sustainable industries offer numerous job opportunities for individuals seeking employment in areas like sustainable energy plants which include electricity generation, solar energy production, wind power generation, biofuels production and electric vehicles manufacturing among others. In addition to this is also battery industry which is rapidly expanding due to growing demand for cleaner sources of energy storage solutions for renewable power sources like solar or wind power plants.
