Unidentified Woman Abandons Baby in Lomita Store; Authorities Seek Public Help

Expectant Mother Abandons Infant at Lomita Establishment

Deputies in Los Angeles County are asking for the public’s help in identifying a woman who abandoned a baby at a store in Lomita. The infant was discovered on Tuesday afternoon by employees at the store, who contacted the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Witnesses reported seeing an unidentified woman enter the store carrying the baby and using the restroom while requesting a taxi.

While an employee arranged for the taxi, the woman placed the baby in a shopping cart and went to the restroom. When the taxi arrived, she left the store, leaving behind the infant in the shopping cart. She then got into the taxi and drove away to an unknown location. Deputies arrived at the store around 5:00 p.m. and took custody of the abandoned baby, who is estimated to be between seven and nine months old. The baby has been placed into the care of the Department of Children and Family Services.
