Unheard Crisis: The Ongoing Conflict and Humanitarian Crisis in Sudan

The Forgotten War of the World

In a world where the news is often dominated by grim headlines, it is easy to overlook the ongoing crisis in Sudan. Despite being Africa’s third-largest country, Sudan has been ravaged by coups and civil war since gaining independence in 1956. The latest conflict began last year, sparked by a power struggle between the official Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), a paramilitary group.

The SAF and RSF have both been accused of looting, raping, and killing civilians, as well as limiting access to humanitarian aid. In some regions, residents are completely isolated from essential supplies, forcing them to resort to eating leaves and seeds just to survive. In Darfur, a region in the west, the RSF is facing serious allegations of ethnic cleansing against black Africans.

While the world’s attention may be focused on conflicts in other parts of the globe, it is crucial not to ignore the ongoing crisis in Sudan. The people of Sudan are suffering greatly as a result of the ongoing violence, genocide, and famine that has plagued the country for decades. It is important for the international community to take notice of the dire situation in Sudan and take action to help bring an end to the suffering of its people.
