Unfortunately, Nelly Korda, the world’s top-ranked female golfer, was bitten by a dog and will not be able to compete in the Aramco-sponsored Ladies European Tour event in London next week. She had been looking forward to defending her title at the Centurion Club in Hemel Hempstead from July 3-5, but she announced on Instagram that she would need to withdraw from the tournament in order to receive treatment and fully recover from the incident.
In her statement on Instagram, Korda expressed regret for having to withdraw from the tournament and apologized to the Ladies European Tour, sponsors, and fans for her absence. She did not provide any specific details about the dog bite, such as where it occurred or the severity of the injury. Despite this setback, Korda remains focused on her next event, which is the season’s fourth major, the Amundi Evian Championship in France from July 11-14. Additionally, Korda is set to represent the United States at the Paris Olympics in August where she will defend her Olympic gold medal.
Korda has had an impressive career so far this season with six wins in seven starts before missing out on her last three tournaments including a disappointing score in US Women’s Open. However, she is determined to get back on track soon and continue her successful career on golf courses around the world.
