Unfortunate: Repeated Vandalism at Whitney Cumbo’s Beauty Supply Store in Bridgeport Leaves Owner Feeling Disappointed and Frustrated.

Local Bridgeport Business Owner Speaks Up Following Third Vandalism Incident – NBC Chicago

Whitney Cumbo, owner of a beauty supply store in Bridgeport, has expressed her frustration after her business was once again the target of vandalism. This is not the first time that Cumbo has had to clean up the mess outside of her store. In previous incidents, a man on a bike punched the window and another man threw a rock, shattering it. These attacks have been ongoing and need to be addressed, Cumbo stated.

Cumbo and her sister started their small business five years ago in Bridgeport, choosing the location because it felt close to home and where they grew up. However, Cumbo now feels like she is being pushed out due to her race. As an African American woman, she shared her struggles with trying to succeed while feeling like she keeps getting set back for no reason.

The latest vandalism occurred on June 18 and the store’s front window is still waiting for repairs as Chicago police continue to search for the perpetrator. Despite the setbacks, Cumbo remains hopeful that justice will be served. Employee Donte Miles expressed disappointment over the vandalism and emphasized that their business operates with good intentions and creates a positive atmosphere for the community. Police have not yet taken anyone into custody as the investigation continues.
