Unexpected Closure at Museum of Science and Industry for Militar

Military artifacts to be moved as Museum of Science and Industry closes on Wednesday

The Museum of Science and Industry experienced an unexpected closure on Wednesday as it prepared to transfer military artifacts from archival storage. Kelsey Ryan, a spokesperson for the museum, stated that the closure was necessary to ensure the safe and proper removal of the items.

The decision to move the artifacts on short notice was due to scheduling conflicts and the availability of officials involved in the process. Despite not disclosing any details about the type and quantity of artifacts being moved, or their destination, Ryan emphasized that military personnel and local officials were present on-site to oversee the relocation out of an abundance of caution.

Initially referred to as “unplanned maintenance,” the closure allowed for the safe transfer of military artifacts without causing any disruptions to visitors. Visitors who had purchased tickets in advance for Wednesday were informed that they could receive a refund or reschedule their visit by contacting 773-684-1414. The museum is set to reopen on Thursday for regular operating hours, as indicated in a news release.

This temporary closure ensured that these historical items at the Museum of Science and Industry continued their preservation while being safely transferred offsite.
