Unearthing the Mysteries of the Moon: A Lunar Eclipse and Journalist Jeff St. Clair’s Insights

Science Spotlight: The Moon

Jeff St. Clair shares fascinating details about the formation of the moon and how it is not the only planet in our solar system with moons. On Monday, March 25th, a lunar eclipse occurred and our intern, Alexandra, along with her sister Ariana, seized the opportunity to take pictures of the moon using their telescope. The resulting photos were stunning and one of them was even used in this thumbnail.

Despite its beauty, much remains unknown about the moon. For instance, what do we believe it is composed of? Have you ever observed it during the day? If given the chance to travel to the moon, what items would you choose to bring along with you? These are some discussion questions that can help us learn more about this celestial body.
