The United States has several states with economies that are so significant that if they were independent countries, they would rank in the top 20 globally. To determine the top economic performers in the US across various metrics, WalletHub, a personal finance website, released its report on the Best & Worst State Economies in 2024.

WalletHub compared all 50 states and the District of Columbia using 28 key indicators of economic performance and strength. These indicators ranged from GDP growth and unemployment rates to startup activity and the proportion of jobs in high-tech industries.
