Uncharted Territory: Penn State’s Quest to Secure a Top 2025 Recruiting Class with a Focus on Corners

Penn State secures commitment from highly sought-after four-star cornerback

In the 2025 recruiting cycle, Penn State is determined to secure a top recruiting class. While the recruitment process has been relatively quiet and slow compared to previous classes, head coach James Franklin and his staff are working hard to attract top recruits.

A major development for Penn State came when four-star cornerback Jahmir Joseph verbally committed to the program. Ranked as the 22nd-best player at his position and 182nd overall in the 2025 class, Joseph’s commitment is a significant win for the Nittany Lions. Standing at 6 feet tall and weighing 185 pounds, he joins Xxavier Thomas and Daryus Dixson as fellow cornerback commits in this class, bringing the total number of cornerbacks in the class to three out of 15 players.

Joseph chose Penn State over offers from Notre Dame, Stanford, Georgia, and South Carolina after an official visit to campus over the weekend. Despite having a visit scheduled to South Carolina, he felt compelled to make his commitment official to Penn State.

The recruitment of additional cornerbacks to complete the group is still ongoing, with Brandon Finney being a key target for the Nittany Lions. The team is hoping to secure a fourth commitment for the position in this class. As recruiting progresses, it will be interesting to see who Penn State lands next to fill out their cornerback group.
