Sharon L. Gaber, the Chancellor of UNC Charlotte, and several other alumni and board members have been recognized in the 2024 Business North Carolina Power List. Gaber was honored in the education category for the fourth consecutive year, with a focus on expanding research efforts and Charlotte’s anticipated receipt of the Carnegie R1 research classification in early 2025.
In addition to Gaber, other notable individuals named to the list include John Hauser ’89, president of Gaston College in the education sector, Tracy Dodson ’97, ’98, assistant city manager and economic director for the city of Charlotte in economic development, and Gene McLaurin ’78, chair of Economic Development Partnership of North Carolina in finance and insurance. Dontá L. Wilson ’97, head of retail banking and marketing at Truist Financial and vice chair of the University Board of Trustees, was also recognized for his contributions in finance and insurance.
