Zelensky Alleges Russia Planning to Mobilize 300,000 More Troops in June, Moscow Refutes Claim

On Wednesday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced that Russia is preparing to mobilize an additional 300,000 soldiers in June. However, Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskov stated that this claim was not true, citing the TASS agency. During a press conference with Finnish president Alexander Stubb in Kyiv, Zelensky did not provide specific figures for the needs of the Ukrainian army when asked. He mentioned earlier in the year that Ukraine doesn’t need half a million troops. In December, Zelensky had said that army commanders had requested the mobilization of 500,000 additional men.

At the press conference, Stubb declined to speculate on a scenario where Finland would send troops to Ukraine. He emphasized that Finland supports Ukraine in every possible way and signed an agreement to provide security guarantees to Ukraine for the next ten years. The current priority is to provide Kyiv with weapons, ammunition, training, and support its path to entering the European Union (EU) and NATO.
