Russian forces advance to the south and east as Ukraine targets an oil refinery

In recent developments, Russia has revealed new anti-drone missile systems in response to which Ukraine claimed responsibility for a successful nighttime drone attack on a Russian oil refinery in Azov. The attack occurred in the Rostov region in the south and caused severe fires. Russian forces are continuing their attempts to move east into the vicinity of Chasev Yar in the eastern Donetsk region, with controlling this city allowing them to advance towards the Donbass region. Additionally, Russian forces are advancing south towards Pokrovsk, nearing a main road that could complicate the supply of the Ukrainian army in the region.

In other news, Vasily Golubev, the governor of the Rostov region where Russian operations in Ukraine are based, confirmed the drone attack on the oil tanks in Azov. While there were no reported casualties, severe fires broke out. A Ukrainian Ministry of Defense source praised the attack, which involved four Ukrainian drones targeting a petroleum products tank in Rostov. The Russian Ministry of Defense reported hitting a Ukrainian S-300 anti-aircraft missile system and a warehouse containing Western-made weapons and military equipment.

On another front, Almaz-Antey announced plans to unveil anti-drone and anti-unmanned missile systems at the MDS 2024 International Maritime Defense Exhibition. The company will showcase a model of the “Kumar” missile system and an updated version during the exhibition, featuring advanced technology for effective missile launches in maritime conditions. The upgraded systems are equipped with tracking capabilities and can launch missiles automatically or manually.
