UEFA to Improve Frankfurt Arena’s Playing Field in Bid for Safe and Thrilling Euro 2024 Matches

Uefa plans to ‘address’ pitch conditions in Frankfurt

Uefa has announced a plan to improve the quality of the pitch at Frankfurt Arena following difficulties faced by players during a recent match. The challenges were evident during England’s draw against Denmark in the Euro 2024 Group C encounter, with large chunks of turf scattered across the field prompting ground staff to fill buckets with grass after the game.

In response to these issues, Uefa has implemented a detailed maintenance plan aimed at addressing specific problems and enhancing the overall quality of the pitch ahead of upcoming fixtures at the venue. The organization has been working closely with its independent pitch consultants and the grounds team in Frankfurt to ensure optimal playing conditions. As a result, the overall pitch rating has shown consistent improvement over the previous season.

The next match scheduled to take place at Frankfurt Arena is on 23 June, where hosts Germany will face Switzerland in Group A. Following this, Slovakia and Romania will meet in Group E on 26 June, with the final game being a last-16 tie between the Group F winner and one of the four best third-placed teams on 1 July. The efforts to improve the pitch are aimed at providing a better playing surface for all teams participating in these upcoming fixtures.
