UBS CEO Sergio Ermotti: Europe’s Highest-Paid Banker in 2023 with Impressive Salary

Europe’s highest-paid banker is UBS CEO, earning over 14 million euros

UBS CEO Sergio Ermotti is the highest-paid banker in Europe, with an impressive salary of 14.4 million Swiss francs for nine months of work. He took over the leadership at UBS in April to manage the takeover of Credit Suisse, and his previous experience as head of the bank for nine years proved valuable in this new role.

In comparison, Ermotti’s predecessor Ralph Hamers received 12.6 million francs in 2022 for twelve months of work. This significant difference in compensation highlights Ermotti’s impressive salary as the best-paid banker in Europe.

UBS’s annual report reports that Ermotti was paid 14.4 million francs in 2023, making him one of the highest-paid banking executives globally. His valuable contributions to UBS and the industry as a whole have earned him this recognition, placing him among the top earners in the world of finance.

The US has its own highly paid banker, JPMorgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon, who earned $36 million last year. While Dimon’s salary is higher than Ermotti’s, it still places both executives among some of the most highly compensated individuals in their respective countries and industries.
