UAE Banking Sector Reports Impressive 28.2% Increase in Liquid Assets and Remains Well-Capitalized

At the end of the first quarter, the banking sector holds 786.6 billion dirhams in liquid assets.

The Central Bank of the Emirates has revealed that the value of liquid assets in the banking sector increased by 28.2% to 786.6 billion dirhams at the end of the first quarter this year, compared to the end of the previous year. This represents a significant increase of 172.8 billion dirhams, according to statistics from the central bank.

Moreover, the UAE banking system is well capitalized, with an overall capital adequacy ratio of 18% at the end of the first quarter, exceeding the regulatory minimum of 13%.
