U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program Leads Greco-Roman Team in Turkey with Tough Competition Awaiting them in Quarterfinals”.

Team USA Brackets announced for World Olympic Games Qualifier in Istanbul by USA Wrestling

The Greco-Roman team in Turkey is led by three U.S. Olympic Team Trials champions and U.S. Army World Class Athlete Program teammates: Dalton Roberts at 60 kg, Ellis Coleman at 67 kg, and Kamal Bey at 77 kg.

In the opening round of the competition, Roberts will face Viktor Petryk of Ukraine, who was a bronze medalist at the 2021 European Championships and has competed at three Senior World Championships. If Roberts wins his first match, he may face a rematch with No. 1 seed Gevorg Gharibyan of Armenia in the quarterfinals. However, the bottom side of Roberts’ bracket features tough competition like Sadyk Lalaev from Russia and Hleb Makaranka from Belarus, making it difficult for him to reach the semifinals.

Coleman will start his run against Aliaksandr Liavonchyk from Belarus in his opening match. If Coleman wins two matches, he could potentially face No. 4 seed Abu Amaev of Bulgaria in the quarterfinals. The semifinals could see Coleman facing top-seeded Krisztian Vancza of Hungary or Etienne Kinsinger of Germany if he advances that far in the tournament.

Bey will begin his run against Individual Neutral Athlete Sergei Kutuzov from Russia in his opening match. He could potentially face Tsimur Berdyieu from Belarus in the second round if he wins his first match against Kutuzov. Bey’s side of the bracket also includes tough opponents like Viktor Nemes of Serbia and Iuri Lomadze of Georgia, making it challenging for him to advance through the rounds and reach the podium.
