Two Phillies prospects advancing towards the majors

As the Phillies look to the future, two prospects are making waves as they move closer to the big leagues. Shortstop Aidan Miller and pitcher George Klassen have been promoted from Clearwater to High-A Jersey Shore.

Miller, who was picked 27th overall in the 2023 MLB Draft, has been impressive in his first full minor league season. He leads the Florida State League in doubles and is in the top five in slugging percentage and OPS. He is currently ranked as the organization’s number two prospect.

Klassen has earned his promotion through dominating performances on the mound. In nine starts this season for Clearwater, he has only allowed 21 hits and has struck out 57 batters in 38 innings. His ERA of 0.71 is the lowest in the FSL among any pitcher with at least 20 innings pitched.

Last season at the University of Minnesota, Klassen struggled with his control but has improved significantly as a pro. He is now using a three-pitch mix that includes a high-90s fastball, curveball, and a cutter that has been fooling hitters all season long.
