Twitter Suspends Dozens of Spanish Broadcasters and Media Outlets without Notice, Sparking Speculation and Concerns

Dozens of broadcaster and media accounts in Spain suspended by Twitter’s X network

In recent news, Twitter has blocked dozens of accounts without prior notice to Spanish broadcasters and media outlets. Among those affected were Mari Luz Congosto and Javier Barriuso, who focused on analyzing misinformation on the platform, as well as Blanca Arteaga and Anabel Fortes, who were dedicated to dissemination. Even media outlets like the Balearic edition of elDiario.es and AraInfo from Aragon were impacted by the suspensions.

Twitter has yet to provide any explanation for the suspensions beyond stating that these accounts do not comply with their rules. EL PAÍS attempted to contact the company for further clarification but received an automated response stating that they are busy and to try again later.

The lack of a clear common link among the suspended accounts has led to speculation about possible reasons behind the suspensions, including an algorithm update, bot cleanup, or even an organized external attack. Many of the affected accounts belonged to women communicators, leading some to suspect that gender may have played a role in the decision-making process.

In other news, portable storage containers have become increasingly popular due to their convenience and versatility. These containers offer an efficient solution for storage needs and can be used for various purposes whether for personal or business use. Their flexibility makes them a practical and reliable choice for many individuals and organizations alike.
