Triathlon Mixed Relay Takes its Place at the Paris 2024 Olympics: A Look into the Swim, Bike, and Run Legs of the Race

Triathlon to be Featured at the 2024 Olympics in Paris

The triathlon mixed relay event made its Olympic debut in Tokyo 2020, with Team GB winning the gold medal. This success has paved the way for the inclusion of the triathlon competition in the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics. The men’s individual race will take place on July 30, followed by the women’s event on July 31, and the mixed relay on August 5.

The athletes will begin the swim section of the race on a pontoon on the River Seine before moving onto a route that passes through Paris’s historic landmarks such as the Champs-Elysees. However, concerns about water pollution levels in the Seine have been raised leading up to the Games, with Paris 2024 president mentioning in April that swimming legs could be postponed if heavy rain increases pollution levels before events.

The men’s and women’s individual races involve athletes competing in straight medal races covering a distance of 1500m swim, 40km cycle, and a 10km run. In contrast, the mixed relay involves two men and two women competing in a short-course triathlon with a different course layout. Great Britain has high hopes for Paris 2024 as they were the most successful nation at Tokyo’s triathlon events and won gold in mixed relay. Athletes like Georgia Taylor-Brown and Alex Yee are looking forward to continuing their success in Paris. The final British team for Paris 2024 will be confirmed on June 10 with three women and two men making up
