Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen Slams China for ‘Unfair’ Economic Practices and Oversupply of Goods.

Yellen Criticizes China’s “Coercive” Actions Towards US Companies and Calls for Reforms

During her four-day visit to China, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen criticized the government for their “unfair” treatment of American and other foreign companies. She called on Beijing to return to the pro-market reforms of the past in order to create a more level playing field for businesses.

Yellen specifically pointed out China’s use of “unfair economic practices” such as imposing barriers to access for foreign firms and taking coercive actions against American companies. She stated her intention to address these issues during her meetings in China, starting in the city of Guangzhou.

In addition to her criticism, Yellen also raised concerns about China’s factory production. She warned that they risk producing more goods than the world can easily absorb, which highlights the need for China to adopt more sustainable economic practices in order to prevent oversupply and other potential issues.
