Transport Workers Protest Unfair Collective Bargaining Agreement: A Call for Better Working Conditions

A planned 4-hour public transport strike on July 18th

Yesterday, Uiltrasporti announced a 4-hour strike on July 18th in protest of the autoferrotranvieri-internavigatori collective bargaining agreement. The decision was made after efforts to keep discussions open and proactive were met with an unwillingness from employers’ associations to renew the Ccnl with an economic increase in line with the cost of living.

Despite unreasonable proposals being put forward by the employers’ associations that focused on tightening working conditions rather than improving them, the strike represents a necessary step to assert legitimate demands for better working conditions. Issues such as greater safety, improved work-life balance, and fair wages are essential rights for workers in a crucial sector for the country’s economy.

The renewal of the Ccnl is not optional but a fundamental right for workers. The transport industry plays a vital role in the lives and economy of citizens, and it is time to move away from outdated and self-serving positions. It is essential to push for changes that prioritize the well-being and rights of workers in this sector.
