In the past year, Israeli Transport Minister Miri Regev has conducted official visits to five different countries: Morocco, Georgia, Mexico, India, and Sri Lanka. The total cost of these visits was approximately 1 million shekels, excluding security expenses.
The Ministry of Transport recently revealed the expenses incurred during these visits in response to a request from the Derech Tslakha organization. According to the Ministry, the most significant costs were incurred during the visit to Morocco. A week-long delegation trip led by Regev cost 370 thousand shekels. The visit to India and Sri Lanka cost 255 thousand shekels each, while the visit to Mexico cost 295 thousand shekels and the visit to Georgia cost 164 thousand shekels.
The Ministry’s transparency in sharing these figures allowed for clarity on taxpayer spending related to these official visits. This information can be useful for citizens who want to understand how their tax dollars are being spent by government officials.
