The US has pledged over 100 billion VND to enhance fertilizer use efficiency, increase farmers’ income, and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in rice farming. In collaboration with the US Department of Agriculture (USDA), the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development launched a project on correct fertilizer use on April 9. The project, which will run over four years and be sponsored by the Department of Foreign Agricultural Affairs under USDA, will focus on provinces in the Red River Delta and the Mekong Delta.

Through this project, farmers will receive guidance from experts from the US Department of Agriculture, the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI), and Vietnamese scientists on best practices for using fertilizers effectively following the 4 right principles (4Rs) of nutrition management. The aim is to improve fertilizer use efficiency, increase income and reduce greenhouse gas emissions in rice farming.
