On May 6, tragedy struck at a wedding tent setting party in Thai Binh province. The family in group 5 of Hoang Dieu ward, Thai Binh city, had organized the celebration from May 1 to 2. During the party, they served a variety of dishes including roasted chicken, braised shrimp, melon and eggplant soup, and goat’s blood pudding.
The blood used in the pudding came from goats slaughtered in Ninh Binh and transported to Thai Binh. The stuffing for the pudding consisted of boiled pig ears, liver, and throat. Each tray had a large bowl of blood pudding for guests to enjoy as they pleased. After consuming the feast, Mr. Pham Trong Thuan passed away while several other individuals also experienced symptoms such as fever, digestive issues, and abdominal pain.
The Department of Food Safety and Hygiene has reported that the incident may be a case of food poisoning but has not yet identified the specific agent or dish responsible. The Department of Health is conducting investigations and awaiting the results of blood cultures from the affected individuals to determine the cause of their illness. The results are expected to be released in the coming days.
