Tragic Loss: Third Victim Dies in Molotov Cocktail Attack on LGBT+ Hotel Room in Buenos Aires

Argentinian Victim of Lesbian Arson Attack Dies

A third victim of a Molotov cocktail attack on a hotel room in Buenos Aires where two couples of women lived has passed away, according to Maria Rachid, the leader of the Argentine LGBT+ Federation. The attack occurred when a 62-year-old man set fire to the room where two lesbian couples resided by throwing an explosive. Over the course of the week, one woman died on Tuesday, another on Wednesday, and a third on Sunday as a result of their injuries. The fourth individual, who sustained minor injuries, is recovering well with a good prognosis.

The incident has been classified as a hate crime by both the Ministry of Women of the Province of Buenos Aires and the Argentine LGBT+ Federation. In response to the attack, opposition leaders, human rights organizations, and LGBT activists have criticized the government for promoting hate speech that is translating into violence on the streets. The government under Javier Milei has faced backlash for shutting down the Ministry of Women, banning inclusive language, and making disparaging remarks about feminism.

Various sources suggest that Milei’s administration’s policies have contributed to creating a hostile environment that has led to incidents like the Molotov cocktail attack. In the aftermath of the tragedy, there has been a call for justice, accountability, and a commitment to creating a safer and more inclusive society for all individuals. A demonstration was held near the Argentine Congress to demand justice while an impromptu vigil was organized outside the guesthouse where the women resided.
