Tragic Gaza Airstrike: UNRWA Denounces Violence, Calls for Immediate Resolution

800,000 People Forced to Evacuate Rafah, UN Reports

The ongoing conflict in Gaza has forced approximately 800,000 people to flee Rafah. The United Nations refugee agency, UNRWA, has been working tirelessly to provide aid and support to those affected by the conflict. The head of UNRWA, Philippe Lazzarini, denounced the situation and called for an immediate resolution to the crisis.

On May 6th, Israeli forces launched a military operation in the southern part of the Palestinian enclave. Reports from medical sources at Al-Aqsa hospital confirmed that 20 people were killed in a dawn air raid on the Nusseirat refugee camp in Gaza Strip. The airstrike targeted a house belonging to the Hassan family, resulting in multiple casualties and injuries. Witnesses reported that the attack took place around 3:00 in the morning, leading to further investigations by the Israeli army to verify the incident.

Meanwhile, Israeli War Minister Benny Gantz has expressed his intention to resign from the Cabinet if Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu does not approve a post-war plan for Gaza by June 8th. Gantz outlined six strategic objectives, including overthrowing Hamas, establishing Israeli security control over Palestinian territory, and returning Israeli hostages. He also suggested the formation of an international administration to manage civil affairs in Gaza and normalize ties with Saudi Arabia in the fight against Iran and its affiliates.

In response, Prime Minister Netanyahu accused Gantz of issuing ultimatums to him instead of Hamas. Netanyahu’s office stated that Gantz’s demands would lead to an end to the war, defeat for Israel, and the creation of a Palestinian state, which Netanyahu opposes.
