Gilbert business struck by driver who died in vehicle crash

A man in Phoenix met a tragic end on Tuesday morning when he crashed his vehicle into a business in Gilbert. According to police, the incident occurred at Ray and Cooper roads around 10 a.m., and the driver was found dead with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Gilbert Police spokesperson Levi Leyba confirmed the incident in an email to KTAR News 92.3 FM, stating that an investigation is currently underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash. Fortunately, there were no other injuries reported from the incident.

The vehicle was seen being driven almost fully into Dragon Wok, a Chinese restaurant located on the southeast corner of the intersection. The restaurant’s owner was saddened by the news but grateful that there were no other injuries reported from the incident.

As reported by ABC15, witnesses described seeing a man driving erratically before losing control of his vehicle and crashing into Dragon Wok. The man’s identity has not yet been revealed, and his cause of death is still unknown at this time. However, it is believed that he may have been suffering from a medical emergency before driving erratically and losing control of his vehicle.
